Endcap Velocity Check
Endcap underperforming its rent. Proposes a higher-velocity swap.
Trigger condition
An endcap returns less margin per linear foot than the store average for the aisle behind it, across a full two-week display cycle.
Write-back
Display change proposed in the space planning tool; POS reporting tag updated for the new occupant.
Every write is gated on an approver role you name. Nothing runs unattended.
Procedure
- Measure margin per linear foot for the endcap against both the aisle average and the prior occupant.
- Net out the vendor-funded display allowance, which is often the only reason the endcap earns its place.
- Rank the candidate replacements on realised velocity in this store rather than chain-wide.
- Open a case to the store and category leads, gated on approval where a trade agreement is involved.
- Close when the replacement clears the aisle-average return over its first full cycle.
Outcome metric
Margin per linear foot over the first two-week cycle vs. the displaced item, including display funding on both sides.
The case closes on this number, not on the action being taken. A playbook without a close condition is a dashboard.
